Shavus Interruptus Exsanguinous

Or, how to ruin a perfectly good shave with a case of the hiccups.

Going for the final ATG on my left jawline, and out of nowhere, a single hiccup.
Razor slides up, and a thin red line forms.

This is the first bloodshed with a straight that I have had in about 20 shaves(aside from an occasional weeper.
About an inch and a 1/4 long.

More proof that we all should be shaving with paper bags over our heads, upside down while drinking water, eating sugar, etc to prevent pesky (and bloody!) hickups.

Hope you heal quick!

Just a thin red line now, some styptic pencil sealed it up good.

Just glad it's a small slice, and not a scoop of flesh.

I've had two good cuts over the last few years. One came from a cold beagle nose on my ankle, the other came from a surprise sneeze when I had a bad case of flu.

When I'm sick I think I'll revert to the DE for safety's sake. Straight+flu sounds a bit too dangerous for my taste .

Frankly, stories like this are why I don't try a straight razor.

Aww.

'Tis but a fleshwound.

Unless someone is in the habit of tackling you into the wall when you are shaving, you have nothing really to fear.

A similar thing happened to me. I was shaving with my shavette in the shower (I know....) and for some reason the circuit breaker tripped and my entire back was drenched in freezing cold water.
I had the shavette poised to shave the middle of my upper lip, and I ended up with a perfect horizontal cut about half an inch long right below my nose.

It was quite deep too, because when I continued with my shave, I managed to catch the cut again and felt the blade catch in the notch from the first cut.
By the time I finished shaving, I had blood running down my chest.
The application of my alum block made some colourful words come out of my mouth

First I'll say, ouch and I hope you heal quickly.

Then I'd like to follow up with:

Awesome!

Mine is just about gone.
I rarely scar, unless its a big one.(road rash, or anything needing stitches.)
