Shaving with my Schick

I'm only about a month into this whole wetshaving gig (I don't count my wetshaving with cartridges days) and I'm really enjoying it.

Even in the days of cartridge razors I was a Gillette man. I just seemed to get closer shaves, no irritation, and it was an all-around better experience.

I have a Feather SS, and EJ DE89L, and a whole slew of vintage razors. On a whim I got an E2 Injector and participated in the group buy for injector blades.

So far, this Schick is blowing all my DE razors and blades out of the water. Yesterday I took a break and tried out my Blue Tip with a Derby blade. I know that is supposed to be a mild shave but I definitely felt like I could shave again at night. The days I've shaved with my E2 it is DFS/BBS time and it really lasts.

Maybe I should give my Gems a shot now too.

Talk about hitting the ground running.

I just started using a Gem 1912 after eight months with the DE. Solid technique definitely helped me make a smooth transition since the SE feels fairly unforgiving (esp. compared with an EJ or, by report, the Feather SS or an injector).

So you might want to wait a bit or, judging by the speed of your RAD, you might not want to wait at all. :001_smile

I get very similar end results with my best Gems and my best injectors. Getting under the nose with the larger SE razors takes a bit more maneuvering, as you'd expect, but it can be done.

My DEs get less and less shave time, although I take one out now and then for variety, and even use them as travel razors.

Injectors are great! I really love mine. And if you like the injectors, then I think you'll really love and SE of any variety.

Bob,

My 'E2' & 'G1' were such great shavers, they led me to trying out a 1912 EverReady. I was glad I did - super razors !!

Long live SEs !!

Have fun !

Best regards

Russ

The plus side of learning to shave with a DE or SE razor and having a goatee! I sometimes wish I had more face to shave, but I avoid the learning curve of the upper lip and chin. :shaving:
