Shaving Mug @ Target

Was contemplating buying a shave mug or bowl when I stumbled across this at Target in New York today -

It's a 20OZ soup mug that comes with a cover and I found it's perfect for shave soap. I stuck a puck in and melted in the microwave for 30 seconds (10 second increments) so that the soap perfectly conforms to the mug. It's hefty, has a nice size handle and a cover to boot. It was priced at about 6 bucks USD.

Here's a better image so you can see the size

I have one of those mugs ... it never occurred to me to use it for shaving.

I keep mine in my locker at work. Its intended purpose is to heat up soups and chili and so forth in the microwave. The snap-on lid has a small vent to allow steam to escape while keeping the rest of the food from bubbling over the top.

And Target does have the best price on this. I owned one before, but when it broke, I shopped around for a while looking for a replacement. When I found it at Target for $6, I jumped on it. This is about $2.50 less than any other B&M store. Even Amazon Prime has a ridiculously high price of $11.99, but that includes free shipping.

Hmm...I kind of want that mug but for soup. I tend to eat a lot of ramen though so I would need its bigger brother.

The mug is pretty big on its own, 22oz I think. You can easily fit a pack of ramen in there, in fact, its probably big enough to handle a "Cup-o-Noodles" with room to spare.

I've got one of these in the kitchen, but it's burgundy on the outside, white on the inside. Picked it up for $3 when the grocery store down the street closed. I wish I would have picked up a second one. Gonna have to appropriate it for soap use. Don't know why that's never occurred to me before. The size, most likely.

I'm on my way to Target as we speak to grab 3 of them. One for my Arko, and the other two for Mike's barbershop, and my fiances Mikes Lemongrass. I LOVE THIS WEBSITE

So, SWMBO is reluctant to let me use the one we have for soap, since she likes if for soup...
How has it been working out as a soap mug? Is the size a problem at all?

My soap didn't fit perfectly in the bottom so I microwaved it untill it melted then let it cool. Perfect fit now. As far as the size, I find it gives me plenty of room to work the lather. Maybe a bit too big to hold in the shower, but I shave after my shower at the sink so the size isn't a problem.

That is the exact same mug I use! I use it as a soap bowl, not a lathering bowl -- the diameter is large enough to allow a good surface for loading. Pucks of MWF or PdP fit in it nicely.

I got one a few years back but it is being used for soups now since I made a scuttle using a Square salad bowl and a 4 inch round cerel bowl.

It looks like we've got a lot of repurposed kitchen items here.
Next someone's going to tell me they're using their blender as a lather machine!
