Shaving bowl

Had never come across a scuttle until I joined the forum and wonder what I am lackng in shaving knowledge. After decades of wasting money on non DE shaving equipment I am a firm convert to a proper shve with a DE razor, cream and a decent brush. NO more foam/gel in a can of disposable blades.

Yes takes a bit longer but the results speak for them selves and I love the 'me' time I get in the morning with a local chat show playing in the background.

On another note I am looking for ideally a simple modern looking ceramic shaving bowl. Black in color or indeed a wooden one. Would appreciate any suggestions espically form those based in the UK.

I don't know how easy it is to ship to the UK, but Georgetown pottery has a nice scuttle in something called Hamada, which to my untrained eye looks pretty much like black. I believe they have some shave bowls as well if you don't want the scuttle.

That's what I used. Recently I've been using a Japanese ceramic meso soup bowl...it's black (meaning cool looking!) and has an unfinished bottom (pebbly like a basketball) so really whips up a great lather.

I too use a plastic cereal bowl. Doesnt do much in the area of keeping lather warm though. Picking up a scuttle soon.

I guess its just me but i cannot get enough lather for four passes without a bowl.

I only do two passes, but if you're running out there's no rule saying you can't hit the puck for a few seconds and get back at it.

Ceramic holds heat; plastic doesn't.

This is what I use, minus the logo and mine is a little shorter.

It works like a charm.
