Shark Super Crome vs. Derby Extra

I received my first pack of Derby blades and I must say they are as pleasant to use as everyone has previously stated on this forum. I have an ultra sensitive face and use my Super Adjustable on a setting of 2. I noticed that using the Sharks with the a razor setting of 2, I still had irritation around my mouth and chin. I waited two days before shaving this morning with the same razor/Derby blade. What a difference! The Shark’s where sharp but nowhere as smooth as the Derby. I do acknowledge that it's different for every person and technique has a lot to do with it.

I have tried the "Shark Super Chromes" myself, and found them to be only a mid-level blade, not anywhere near as great as the board was touting them to be.

For me, they provide decent quality shaves, but not nearly as smooth as other blades I have tried.

I agree, I could get a great shave out of a shark myself, problem is they ate my face like a real life shark, had light rust after a few uses and never got more than 5 shaves out of a blade. (I even swirl my blades in rubbing alcohol) :frown:

I will stick to my Red Pack IP's for the price and comfort, really I can't find much to beat them with or want to really.

Ah, the YMMV factor. I was pumped to try the Derby blades, and found that they didn't work as well for me as Sharks or ASR WalMart Personna blades.

I think there can be trends, but no guarantees. If nine out of ten B&B posters love Super Chrome Inox Obscuro blades, and you are lucky number ten that gets enough razor burn with 'em to heat a small room, does that make the SCIO blades bad?

So far, I've found I get great shaves with a couple of brands of that are cheap as Hell bargain priced. I can live with that!

Yeah - I think the Derbies and Red Personnas are very similar blades. I like them both in my Slim adjustable a lot. The funniest part is that I don't like the Personnas in my Merkur 34c very much at all. I find that the Iridium Super is wonderful in that razor.

I am using the Shark right now in the Merkur, and it is not for me - I have a pretty dense beard with pretty thick hairs.
