Send shaving-stuff to Sweden?

Hey guys!

Since the US is full of cool shaving stuff i want to try out i headed to Ebay and got pretty dissapointed.. example: Some Osage Rub for like 15$ and then shipping: 30$ to Sweden... i feel thats not OK..

Soo, my question is if someone maybe could get me some nice products (Williams, Osage Rub, Pinaud Bay Rum etc) and send it to me here in Sweden like a "gift" to avoid custom fees, if this is possible!

This i just an idea, what do you think?

Best regards, Michael Larsson

It's basically impossible to send aftershaves, since it's illegal to ship flammable liquids by air. Soaps, creams, etc. are not a problem.

I ship to Sweden regularly. $47 for up to 20 pounds in a medium flat rate box. Never sent shaving stuff though.

Try to find what you need in UK stores. It's all EU so shipping is cheaper, but obviously you can't get everything.

Larsson_Power, you should call customs in Sweden and ask what the laws are.
I don't know the law in Sweden but custom fees are normally assessed by value.
It does not matter if it is a gift or not.
I know that for parts of the EU you can get a package with out paying customs at all as long as the value is less than 34 euro (its 500 SEK for Sweden)

once you know the laws it will be easier to get what you would like shipped with out unpleasant surprises.

You will most likely find the rule on the Internet as well.

Is that true for all countries? I only ask because I've bought a bunch of aftershaves and had them shipped from the US and Canada to Japan without any issues....

I have been wanting these, but I hear it is illegal to mail these to the u.s. according to Swedish postal authorities....

Technically it's not illegal, it just has to be labelled as hazardous materials which inherently makes the shipping quadruple. Not labelling it as such, IS illegal but some vendors risk it anyways.

There's so many problems with what you're asking someone to do, not the least of which is that the part above is illegal.

Actually, proxying isn't illegal (i.e. someone buys a product for you and sends it ahead as a gift, asking only the realistic shipping fees + a price of coffee/beer for troubles). However, I recommend Larsson_Power to check the regulatios of your customs. AFAIK, there's a limit of 40-50 euros (~400-500 SEK) before you need to declare your goods.

Still, being a Finn (hello, neighbour!), I've found European vendors easier (living in Finland by myself). There are many nice English makers and shops where you can find reasonably priced products. UK eBay isn't void of those, either. Fragrances can be found frome these same shops and vendors - and if you like the more popular products, I've found Fragrancedirect a good place to shop.

OP, you might be asking a lot from someone.
I don't think you'll get any takers on this.
I agree that a little more searching in Europe would better suit you.

If you ever end up travelling to this part of the world, bring an extra suitcase and go shopping!

Just a little update, FYI. I found someone to send me shaving gear from the US. Thank you my friend and thank you B&B for your opinions!

Common problem.

Solution? Buy more from the same vendor. Sometimes, not always.

As a hobbyist of this and that, I've been there many times, that the items I'm about to order are cheaper than the shipping costs. However, there usually is a sweet spot in there somewhere, when it makes sense to order taking all things into consideration.

Hello neighbor!

I HATE when it happens.. i looket @ Mama Bears soaps couple of hours ago and if you buy 2 x soaps in plastic containers for 24$ the shipping is 18$, thats a sweet spot if you ask me :)
