Semogue paint question

I love how Semogues perform...I recently got a Semogue 1305 from another member, never used, but the older model that was known for some paint problems. Other than never dropping it and never getting it wet (which probably won't happen) what can I do to preserve the paint?

On a related topic, I got a 1520 from another member who was upfront about the paint being badly chipped. He gave it to me for a great price and I've turned it into my first quasi-restoration project.

Here's phase one:

Next up will be the finish, I'll let you know how it turns out.

I rather like the way that 1520 looks now, with the natural grain of the wood showing through. A few coats of polyurethane sealer would preserve that look.

As for the 1305, if you don't want to leave it au naturale, try staining it instead of painting, then seal it with polyurethane or equivalent.

For the record, I got the 1305 from Left Coast DJ and the 1520 from Will P.C., both of whom offered me a great deal and both of whom shipped quickly.

Thanks fellas,
sb

p.s.--which doesn't mean I won't entertain offers for other Semogues. Really, can you have too many?

Probably not. When the ADs start to itch, you can't have too much of anything.

I'll probably get a Semogue before the end of the year. I have plenty of good badger brushes, but I need a really great boar brush to round out the collection.
