What's new

Schick Krona - Wow!

I just tried my new to me Schick Krona, which I received a month ago but only tested today. One word - wow! Excellent razor that gave me an excellent DFS and felt great doing it. I also like it's ergonomics very much. I used a Feather blade in it.

So far my Merkur 23C (AKA 180) had been my favorite razor, besting my stable of other razors (Gillette Slim adjustable, 1940s Gillette Super Speed NDC, Gillette SS Blue Tip, Gillette Tech, Lord L6, Ri-mei razor). The Schick Krona feels like it is going to best them all.

Will obviously need to use it further and also try different blades in it, but so far I am very impressed.

The Schick Krona is now my favorite razor. Highly recommended!

I don't know about favorite razor, but I used mine today and found it gave a safe, DFS shave. It's a good razor when you don't feel like paying close attention (like early on a Monday morning!).

For some reason this razor tears up my face like no other. Razor burn, Large visible weepers, ect- worse than any straight or highly aggressive razor I've used. Probably due to the fact that it doesn't have enough weight and I end up overpressuring.
Gave mine away to a friend and he insists that it is the greatest shaving implement ever devised- YMMV truly is the name of the game for this sort of stuff.

I really wanted to like the razor though...

My Krona has always delivered close, comfortable, effortless shaves. Just used mine yesterday paired with a Shark Super Chrome and an Arko shave stick. A phenomenal shave, even for my Krona. And I just discovered yesterday that Schick made gold ones, as well. I had t ever seen one of those, but they are definitely a sharp looking razor! Not too much of a razor pun intended!:001_cool:

I really like mine. I find it pretty close to the Gillette SS in comfort. Might be just a little more aggressive but gives great shaves.

It's a great one. I think it's one of the razors that every DE user should try. I may be the odd one, or have an odd Krona, but I feel like it's more a medium aggressive razor rather than on the mild side.

I may have biased myself by using a Feather blade in it, but the Schick Krona did feel more aggressive than the Merkur 23C with Feather blades; and the Merkur does feel more aggressive than my gaggle of Gillettes except for the slim adjustable when set to 7 to 9. The Krona was however incredibly smooth and a pleasure to use.

I'm two shaves in with a new to me Krona. Not completely happy with it, shave is effortless, comfortable and irritation free. But not anywhere near close. Maybe I need to load it with a feather blade, been using the Schick blades that came with it.

My Krona works wonders and the most comfortable shave I've had with it, is with a Derby Extra. 3 passes gives me a BBS shave.

Good razor, similar to Gillette Super Speed, just slightly more agressive, but still "mild". Easy to get a good shave with a variety of blades. Long handle gives a nice balance. Like the SS, it's a razor that should be tried by everyone looking for the "perfect" razor.

My first double edge, bought in 1970, which I still own. To say I have a soft spot for them would be an understatement!

I remember cracking the doors open a bit to give it a little more aggressive shave sometimes -- they're pretty mild.

The Schick Krona has been known to be teh darkhorse of safety razors, being outshaddowed by the superspeeds at the time i've read correctly :)

I've said it many times but if the Krona had a brass handle, it would be in the same class of popularity as the Super Speeds. Krona's are unsung heroes of TTO's. Comfortable to use with nice balance.

Awful! Terrible! Worst shave ever! Do not buy!

:sneaky2: At least not until I pick up a few more to stockpile while they are inexpensive and a great value.
