Schick confusion and help....

Hi,

I have been acquiring different types of razors for nostalgia's sake and I purchased on Ebay what I thought was a Schick injector. Well I received it today and it is something I have never seen or heard of before.

It is a Schick Band Razor. It appears to have a cartridge with a long strip of blade in it that is sort of 'fast forwarded' by moving a lever. Kind of like a cassette.

It is in the original case with labels etc. Is thing thing any good? Is it a keeper? If so are the cartridges even available? Is it even desirable?

Thanks for any help,

Bobby A

I had one of these back in the 60's/early 70s. It was junk back then and is probably still junk now. I don't believe that the cartridges are available.

That being said, it's an interesting piece of shaving history and is worthy of a place in your collection. Just don't apply it to your face!

You shave until the blade wears out and then advance it to an new section of razor strip. The cartridges are sometimes available on eBay and I think the Schick can accept the cartridges from the similar Gillette razor. I've never used one but from what I've read, like most things, some people like how they shave and some don't.

It is a Schick Instamatic or "Auto Band" razor and is similar to the Gillette Techmatic. Blades are not made any more but come up on ebay often. From what I've read that can give a decent shave, but not the best.
