Sample pack arrived today!

My "Everything" Sample pack from west coast shaving came in today.

Under 2 weeks from US to UK so very happy with that. Excellent selection of blades.

# DORCO Platinum ST-301 (10 blades)
# Red Pack Israeli (Personna) (5 blades)
# Lord Platinum (5 blades)
# Sharp (5 blades)
# Wilkinson Sword, Germany (5 blades)

I haven't shaved for about a week because I was in hospital for an operation but now I have these blades and am in need of a shave, where do I start?

Which blades should I start with? What should I work up to? What should I avoid?

I know its all down to what suits me but just looking for some guidance from the DE Jedi who lurk on here.

Answer this question: Do you want to start with a good blade, and hence experience top quality shaves first time around, or do you want to eliminate the crappy blades first?

If you want to start with a good blade, so as to have a good baseline to compare everything else too, start with a Derby.

If you would rather get the blades the board preceives as being horrid out of the way first, use the Dorco's, Sharp, and Merkur blades first.

Started with the Derby's and so far they are better than the Merkurs that I'd previously used (I received some merkur when I bought my HD).

Next move may be either Crystals, Personna (red pack) or Astra Superior Platinum.
