Sample 1, me 0

Last time I went to Gentlemen's Best, I availed myself of several samples from the bowl Ray keeps on the counter, including a soap sample labeled with his house brand.

Well, the other day I decided to give it a try -- I whipped out my trusty Eagle, soaked, and set to lathering. It was awful! Foamy, airy, no body at all...I couldn't even get one pass out of it. "Wow," I thought, "I didn't think Ray would sell a product like this! Did this sample go bad? Have I forgotten how to lather?"

Looking at the label again, it was definitely labeled as Gentleman's Best...cold process soap. I'd been lathering a sample of his bath soap!

Hey man don't forget the 2% rule!!:lol::w00t:

For those of you that do not know that rule, it means you have to be 2% smarter than the equipment you are operating!!

At least you used a soap!

I got my cream/aftershave balm sampler from T&H last week, picked Trafalgar as the first one to test, I put both the cream and the ASB containers on the sink, soaked my brush, opened a container, put some in my bowl (thought it looked kinda strange, but it was the first time I tried T&H) and started to lather, but nothing happened!
Unfortunatly both the cream and the ASB comes in identical looking containers, and I had picked the ASB, and it does NOT make a good lather!

This thread has the potential to be awesome.

I have a similar tale. Bought TOBS Avocado shave soap. Total garbage- couldn't get it to lather to save my life. Tossed it in a bin, but offered it for part of a trade later. The guy asked me where I got it because he'd never heard of the soap. Started to do some research and found out that it was hand soap :mad3:

When I realized what happened I bought the guy a puck of soap, so no worries on that. Still feel like an idiot though!

I did the same thing with a sample Mitchell's Wool Fat (not shaving) soap. D'oh!

I once shampoo'ed with facewash for a week until my wife mentioned how greasy my hair was looking. I blame Trader Joe's for putting all their products in identical bottles.

One time I was trying to clean an old OS mug I had nabbed off the 'bay, left the bathroom light off as I was just gonna spray it quick with some Scrubbing Bubbles and let it soak while I did some other chores.

I started to spray the mug and thought 'that's strange, thought this can was brand new where is the foam' kept spraying and spraying 'that's strange, this stuff smells weird' finally turned the lights on and saw I had grabbed a can of RAID bug spray. So I guess I killed the bugs in one sense.

Without my glasses I have very poor vision. Hotel bathrooms present a particular problem when they put similarly packaged sample toiletries on the shower shelf for the guest's use. I can't read the labels and can never tell whether its just a poorly performing hair product or I have inadvertently used the conditioner/exfoliating scrub/rejuvenating whatever in place of the shampoo.
All I know is that my hair feels like seaweed afterwards.

I used Neutrogena T-Gel as my body wash once. I'm not sure if I was drunk or not, but either way I did not smell good.

Having grandparents stay with us when I was a kid was a wonderful thing... until they started sharing the medicine cabinet.

Took me 20 minutes to get that gunk off my teeth, and I had to throw out my toothbrush.

You guys ever see this stuff? Ever notice its the same size as a bottle of eye drops? I sure didn't until I applied it to one of my eyes right as I woke up.
Ouch
