What's new

Same brand, different scent. Should results be the same?

I'm very new to DE shaving. I completed my 10th DE shave today. Many have suggested that a newbie try and keep the products consistent during the "training period". I've done that...until today. I've been using ToBS Sandalwood cream, but switched to the Lavender scent today. Should switching the scent make the product any less effective?

I guess it could simply be my fault. My technique is far from perfect.

In general switching scents has little to no affect. I wouldn't say never.

However, because the different scent will be a different tub or tube of cream, it may be from a different batch and therefore may be harder or softer, making the lathering experience different.

I have both of those and have found the performance to be consistent. I think the sandalwood I have takes a touch more water to get going, it is also noticeably drier in the tub, so I am figuring that is why. Once I get a good lather going and apply it, the shave is the same.
