What's new

Safety Razor Acquisition Thread.

What really really really REALLY CHEEZES me off with this style case, is the head can only be upside down, jiggling round in a van then plane and yet another van for miles/hours on end freakinwell rubs the head :sneaky2:
All the new ones heads were wrapped in cellophane.

Are you trying to make me jealous? :sneaky2:

One day I was trying to shoot a NOS set in the outer cello and cardboard box, had it in me sights, pulled the trigger, wounded it, but some other bar stool had 24 karat gold shotgun pellets and finished it off :(

So I have to put up with these, .... 💩 [at present]

I'm now going down my lavoritory and spray painting shotgun pellets gold, just for the distraction, like! :p [I might have a little sniffle too :crying: ] :D

I picked up this excellent 1967 M-1 Super Speed for $30. Last M-1 I needed for my birthday quarter collection. I think I have all the M-1's now. Second pic M-1 collection: Slim, Slim Aristocrat, Tech, Slim Twist, Super Speed. An M4 knack which is close enough and a Schick Krona from 66-67 era. I guess I'm crazy! lol

Great looking razor! But a shame that they made a fancy metal blade dispenser and only put 2 in it!

Just means there’s a good chance the razor may have never actually been used. Surprised I don’t see the instructions with it.
I think he means they should have put 10 blades in the de-spenser like :D

as for only 2??? Boffins were very wise, give you only 2 with a new razor, then you hooked ya numpty, you must buy the other 8 or more :lol1:

Yeah it seems pretty cheap of Gillette to make a dispenser marked for just 2 blades but I agree with them doing it was to get you hooked. I'm not sure if it will hold 10 since it's marked for 2, but it might.

1967 ... how many years ago was that..

In 1967, one of my sisters sent me a weeding, errr wedding invitation :w00t: I still have that invitation, complete with envelope, we lived in the same house with Maw an Paw, yet she posted it to me, upon that envelope is a stamp, the value is 4 cents AUD [1966 we went decimal]
Mr Gillette's bean counters were probably dealing with cents at a time, so if for example he/they/them gave you two free blades vs ten free ones, the company was missing out on 8 cents.
I will now get some icecream with my Waffle on :D

After reading @purecro's (December 9th) SOTD post, I HAD TO order a "Superior cuts" 3D printed DE Razor (I chose the OC version with a 75mm handle). It arrived today.

The loaded razor weighs 15.3 grams (14.8 grams without the blade). The handle diameter is 12mm (and the bottom part 14mm); it feels very grippy.

I normally use my new acquisitions the day I receive them, but my next four shaves are already booked. I'm really looking forward to trying this baby out.

RFB NEW #44 Pocket Set – Hollow ball end handle. My #77 set is a favorite and a great shaver so I knew I needed a #44 set. :lol1: Its in nice shape and the plating is good. Didn't come with the blade holder but I'll find one eventually. It came with a full pack of old 7 O'Clocks which is cool. On deck for tomorrow.

This gives me chills. I am both horrified and fascinated. In.
