Saddle shoes

Does anyone wear these anymore? When I met my wife in 1993, I had been wearing them for years. She hated them, so I stopped wearing them. Now I see them in quite a few stores and I'd like to convince her they're not too dorky (my avatar is a tuba, after all). I was thinking of tan suede with a darker brown saddle for a change of pace when wearing jeans or khakis. Something like this, but darker suede:

Thanks.

I personally think that the shoes you linked above are really great! I think those would look very sharp with either jeans or khakis.

I've got a pair of Allen Edmonds Sheltons. I don't wear them to work, but occasionally out with Khakis or jeans.

Florsheim by Duckie Brown has some saddles in very interesting color combinations. You can find them on zappos.com. I like the ones in bone and navy, myself.

Those look like they go well with a fur fedora, but can't think of anything else.

Thanks for your responses. Now can I get you to call my wife and tell her, too?

I'd hold off a bit, as it looks like your wife's team just showed up. Unless, of course, you want to show her how right she was and that if you ever bring up the thought of buying saddle shoes again all she has to do is remind you of this thread.

OK, that's just my opinion.

Both sets of my Golf Shoes look like that.
I don't know if I could pull off wearing them off the links though.

I think the ones in the link look good. I like the tan suede/brown combination. Don't really care for them in white.

I've several pairs of saddle oxfords and thoroughly enjoy the look (obviously!). The brown smooth and suede pair you've linked to are VERY suitable for year-round casual wear.

Put a pair or two in your shoe rotation and enjoy them!

I have had golf shoes in that style off and on for the past 30 years. I'm sure that I would happily wear the suede shoe that you linked to with jeans or khakis.

Nothing wrong with the dirty bucs in the link, for casual wear. I have a pair I use for knocking around.

I'd leave the white and dark contrasting shoes to the links, unless you are wearing a seersucker or white linen suit.
