Rudy Vey "R7" Jade TGN Finest

As I have become a 2 band lover I finally decided it is time to check out the TGN Finest knot vs. my preferred Thäter, Simpson and Rooney (T/S/R) 2 band brushes. I talked with Rudy Vey and asked him for a "R7" handle in Jade with the TGN Finest knot that turned out to be 25/52mm. Rudy - as always - was great to work with and the brush turned out great. I had asked him to pick me a nice and soft knot as I cannot handle any scritch.

I gave it a ride this morning and it is indeed a nice face lathering brush. After one use a final judgment it not yet possible. But the brush compares fairly well vs. its more pricey competitors. Just a hint of scritch when building lather with a circular motion on the face. That is the only shortfall vs. my T/S/R 2 bands But this may subside with more use. The knot is well made, density is medium with good lather release.

Face feel is soft but not as soft as T/S/R competition. So I like the brush (and the handle is gorgeous) - but the knot has me not yet convinced compared to T/S/R...

Sweet handle, but the TGN finest will never compare to your Rooney XLs or the other brushes, in my opinion. Good luck.

I think you are right in terms of face feel. I had the pleasure of using one of my Thäter 2 bands this morning and there is no comparison in softness. The Thäter so far has been my best 2 band brush experience (softness, resilience, density). It is the most balanced brush. Though I do love the Simpsons and Rooneys as well.

Really nice brush. Love the striping of the green and earth tones. I'm a fan of the TGN two bands. My recent ever ready restore with a 24/50 knot is quite the lovely face latherer.
