Rudy Vey Mesquite Handle Brush

I contacted Rudy Vey the other day about making me a brush. I wanted to try something other than a Nib knot, and wasn't ready to pull the trigger on a Rooney or other ready-made brush. Too many models to choose from.

Rudy really hooked me up and I am delighted with the results. I went with a Shavemac 23 mm knot in finest badger with a stabilized mesquite handle. This thing is even bigger than the 22mm knot I have in my restored Ever Ready, and seems plenty big to me. I can't imagine some of the 30mm knots!

Anyway, Rudy was a pleasure to deal with throughout. He even sent me pics of the handle "in process" from a blank and threw in a tube of shave cream as a thank you as well. First rate all the way.

It is a gorgeous wood! I always use the cut-offs from mesquite for smoking - but not the stabilized wood, though. This wood is stabilized with acrylic resin, so it is not longer affected by environmental changes, and pretty resistant to water.
