OK, so I just got back from having the dorsal mane (back hair) waxed. Now I'm not quite this guy

or this knucklehead

But I have never had this done before and got at least 35 years of post-puberty hair growth going on back there. There is no mistaking it, I got me a hairy back.

How was the experience? No big deal. Kind of like having band aids ripped off your arm. It hurts less when they go fast and when they rip off the wax it goes fast. I had a few flinches but it only took about 30 mins and now my back is BBS. I am out $40 with a $7 tip.

I have no hesitation about doing this again.

have you considered lazer?/why go down the waxing route?

(I only ask because im going to have to do something about the ole' back hair situation and lazer appeals to me more than wax because its a lazer! (awesome) and because its more perminant)

thats my situation man. Chest hair I can deal with, back hair is something that will be taken care of!

Chest hair you can deal with. For one, you can trim it to reasonable levels without shaving and without dislocating your shoulder trying to do it. Two, women accept chest hair, and a good number of them actually like it, so long as it's not out of control. At best, I've only met women who tolerate back hair, and a number of them are grossed out by it.

Think about taming that chest mane of yours, though. I started "manscaping" mine about ten years ago, after I was at a party where some guy was going around with a video camera. Towards the end of the party, we all sat around and watched the tape on a large screen. Unbenknownst to me, he had done a tight zoom on my untrimmed chest where my shirt was open near the collar. That amount of hair at that degree of magnification is frightening. A very attractive lady actually said, "Eeewww," when she saw it. That's when I knew it was time to break out the clippers and go a-shearin'.

While laser would be great (the possibility a permanently hairless back is very appealing), I think that treatment of such a large patch of my body would be quite expensive. I'm not sure I'm ready to make that leap when there are other less expensive alternatives.

The lady who waxed me said that it is best to get it done monthly. I figure this is a YMMV and that I will see how fast it grows back. At most, I'm looking at a $50 charge monthly to have a BBS back.

My wife said she would shave my back so that is a free alternative (not quite free 'cause I'll have to do something for the treatment) but an alternative nevertheless.
