rose soap. . have tried Klar's

A few B&B ers have said that Klar's Rose is the nicest tradetional Rose soap/cream on the market.

i want to try a Rose soap or cream do you agree that klar's is the best or do you like an other product more.

how does yours lather , is the scent strong or mild?

please advise

I have not tried Klar's but I have tried a travel puck of Czech & Speake (C&S) Oxford & Cambridge (O&C) and it is an excellent soap. C&S does make a rose-scent soap, No. 88. I have a travel puck of the No. 88 but have not tried it yet but if the performance is anything like the O&C, it will be great. The scent on the puck is quite faint though to my nose.

Can't speak to Klar's. I'm using Mystic Waters Rosalime right now. The scent is very nice, and the lime is very subtle. If I hadn't read it was there I would not have noticed. The lather is wonderful. Highly recommended.

My opinion is that neither Klar nor C&S are much related to what I consider a rose scent. I believe there is a general consensus that GFT Rose Soap is a good one. I have not tried the artisan rose soaps.

Haven't tried Klars, but of the Rose soaps/creams I have used, I rank them:
1. Trumper Rose soap - a lighter scent than creams, but I prefer a soap.
2. T&H Rose cream - scent is similar to Taylor. One of the best performing creams I've tried.
3. Taylor Rose cream - a nice rose scent, but I prefer the softer consistency of T&H creams.
4. Salter Wild Rose - a good cream, but the scent is more tea rose than traditional.

The other Rose I want to try is Rose Of Bulgaria shave cream, but I have too many soaps & creams on hand.

I overlooked creams when I posted above about the soaps. I've had T&H, a sample of GFT, a pot of Taylor's, and a pot of Harris. They're all good, of course, and have their share of fans, but the one I currently have is the Harris Rose, and I would buy it again, as opposed to the others, when it runs out. It's my luxury soap for special shaves, when I just want to reach for the really good stuff.

does GFT Rose dry up on the face as fast as other GFTs?

Yesterday I phone called Klar directly in Germany and also sent them an e-mail. I should get their PayPal account shortly to confirm my order for the Kabinett soap. I hope to get it before Christmas. Thoughts of course to follow.

IF you can find it... QEDMAN Rose Geranium is by far the best scented and performing rose on the market.

I have tried Cyrus Salter, Tobs, Klar Kabinett and Trumpers. Cyrus and TOBS rose creams are perfume heavy and feminine to my nose. Klar is a great performer / easy to lather, but more powdery scent than rose. Trumpers is a good product with a dry, light rose scent.

QEDMAN R.G is a natural herbaceous rosé and very moisturizing. I was so impressed with the product, I emailed the owner about the availability. Charles responded last week and he advised most of his soap line will be replenished in the spring. He also told me his Rosé Geranium E.O. is self-made from his own plants. Hence the limited production. I will be ordering extra when the next batch is made available. On a side note, when introducing a friend or family member to wet shaving I will let them smell several of my soaps. I always save QEDMAN R.G. for last. The scent is fantastic.

If anyone else has tried the same soaps and has a differing opinion, that would not surprise me. YMMV is the rule of the road on soap choice. Good luck.

Kabinett's rose scent is mild and not overbearing. But the lather is stupendous-yogurt-like in the sense that (if you don't add too much water) you get a thick, stable, creamy lather that does not have lots of visible air bubbles. I know it sounds crazy, but to me, it gives the "prettiest" lather of my soaps. And no tallow, not that I care, but it is rather surprising.

Yeah...it's rather striking how thick and yogurt-like the lather gets. And they use rose petals for the scent. But I wouldn't call the scent mild...to me it's strong.

to each his own nose hay? it sounds great have you tried St Charles or Rose of Bulgaria? Both these products get lot s of love on these pages and cost even less then Klar's

but that report on the fome makes me want it? have you ever tried TOBS avocado- if you have is the Klars lather like TOBS A.

I have tried both Rose of Bulgaria and TOBS avocado. Both of those are creams so their behavior is different. Rose of Bulgaria requires a lot of product comparatively. It smells great though. Rose with amber and other stuff to turn it into a "man's" scent. It's quite lovely. TOBS Avocado smells just like a woman's cucumber bodywash. The TOBS lather is kinda like the Klar's yes. But soap lather and cream lather is different anyway.

I did try the Klar Kabinett, but no other rose scented soaps or creams. The scent of the soap is rather strong imo but surprisingly mild when lathered up. The quality of the lather is truly outstanding; thick, stable and easy to make. Together with Calani soaps I rate this among the best lathering non-tallow soaps and just as good or better than a lot of those as well. A very nice product well worth a try!

thanks Kevan - i get the diff between soap and cream lather. sounds like you are saying that the lather from
Klars and TOBS A is about the same richness?
