Rooney 1/1 AND(?) SR 3118

I have a brush question. I decided to start with a 3118 a few months ago and I really like it. It came down to that and the 1/1. I am now thinking about getting another brush and the 1/1 is still appealing to me. From what I have heard that seem like quite different brushes (SR-soft:Rooney-more backbone). I was wondering though it would be too redundant to own both. Are they too similar?

I do like the size of the 3118 and I cant imagine lathering with anything bigger. I have been using mostly creams with both face and bowl lathering but I know I will eventually get into soaps. Thanks for any thoughts!

Get the 1/1 in super, in fact, buy one through Truefitt using the B&B discount code and it's an even better deal. The brush is a no-brainer.

A no brainer in addition to the Savile Row? How could I expect the Rooney to be different? Better for soaps and face lathering?

Sorry toman...can't help you with the SR since I've never used an SR brush...I have used the 1/1 and it's a very scrubby brush with incredible backbone...knot size 22mm, loft 44mm...really soft tips in super...

The 1/1 is a great brush. Even better is the 3/1 - same knot and loft as the 1/1 but with a handle bigger than a pencil eraser:biggrin1:

Seriously though, I found the 1/1 handle to be a bit small. Awkward to use for me and I don't even have big hands.

Andrew...where did you buy your 1/1...mine came in with a 22mm knot and a 42-43mm loft! My 3/1 has a 50mm loft...I agree with you on the handle being more comfortable on the 3/1 but for guys looking for a more scrubby face lathering brush, the 1/1 is about as perfect as it gets...especially if you can get a hold of the finest.

Some web sites used to list the knot specs as the same.
My first 1/1 was 46mm (bought about a year ago and then mistakenly sold on). My current 1/1 is 44mm. My 3/1, bought about 9 months ago, is 48mm.
