Rolls Razor Help: Damaged Blade

Morning:

I picked up a very nice, and fully functional Rolls Razor set this weekend, and was looking forward to learning to shave with it.

The hone, and strop are in very good shape.

However, on closer inspection of the blade, I notice that the edge of the blade has some nicks in it, one of which is fairly significant. Is this something that could be honed away? Would I be able to repair the damage with the included hone?

I have tried to shave with the blade, and it appears way too dull, and pulls and tugs at the hair badly.

I was really hoping this would be usable, as the Rolls is said to be a "straight razor on a stick", and I like the idea of that.

Thanks,

John.

I recommend that you join the Rolls Razor social group.

I suggest that you make a posting looking for a honemeister who'd be comfortable honing your Rolls blade. I know that at least a couple of people have done so and that would seem to be the solution.

+1

I had a Rolls that I wanted to PIF and sent to be honed. It had a chip in it too. You just have to find a honemeister willing to take it on.

Thanks for your advice. I joined the group, and made the posting there about looking for a honemeister. :thumbup1:

Its not a tough job. The challenge is to hone it without cutting fingers:w00t:

I've honed both of my blades and they give great shaves. It is my 'go to' travel razor.
