Repurposed hot sauce bottle to VEG decanter

I was involved in a thread about decanting aftershave to glass. It involved the VEG and I offered up the option that someone could use the Cholula chili lime bottle, and that it even had a green top. Well......I ended up enabling myself and bought a bottle of it. I transferred the label from my plastic bottle to the new glass bottle. It came out ok. I wanted it to be perfect and applied and reapplied until it came out worse than if I would've just left it alone LOL. Great thing about this method is, I can replace the label when I buy another plastic bottle.

Here's the hot sauce bottle next to the original plastic bottle

Nice job but I'd rather wear the sauce :001_cool:

I' consider paying for another bottle, and the shipping cost, to see you smear hot sauce on your face LOL.

I think it looks great. I used a Franks Hot sauce bottle. A bit less classy than yours :biggrin1:

I like the look of that one as well. I don't think the VEG minds what glass it's in.:biggrin1:

How did you wash out the hot sauce through that tiny hole?

The hole in the hot sauce bottle is surprisingly large. A pic compared to my vintage bottle.

My bottle (Franks Hot Sauce) has a shaker top which is a small hole in the black cap. But that cap screws off and the opening is like the Bottle Rockminer used. The Cholula Sauce.
From there dish soap and water and some shaking and it's clean as a whistle.

What I want to know is what happened to the hot sauce?

this is a hot sauce friendly site so please say that no hot sauce was hurt in the making of your Veg bottle

I'm a Hot sauce junkie. I got through a bottle a week or two. I think I was anxious to get the VEG under control though on this one so I drank it.:mad5:

In mah belly. I made a rice, bean, and vegetable mixture, then added some hickory smoked turkey breast. I wrapped it up in a wheat tortilla and used the hot sauce liberally. The sauce was pretty good on that, although it was very citrusy. It's not very hot at all. I had to literally douse it to get any heat out of it. For reference, it was significantly less hot than sriracha, and I don't find sriracha to be all that hot. I was going to document the using of it but I only got this pic.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Nice job on the bottle! But I am partial to Sriracha!
I am awaiting a sampler of the Veg so I must ask, Why does it needs decanting?

A lot of people are put off by the smell of the veg in the plastic bottle it comes in. If you air it out or transfer it to another vessel, it tames the original smell and allows the undertones to come out. I like it out of the original plastic bottle as well as the toned down smell from the glass. I would suggest trying it both ways.

OK, got it!

I gotta ask, how did you transfer the label so well? Most labels I've tried to remove end up getting ripped.

I put warm water in the plastic bottle. then placed it in the microwave ( no top ) and heated it up until it was pretty hot ( Not too hot to touch). I then slowly peeled the label off and immediately placed it on the new prepped bottle. Easy peasy :)
