Regular slant versus double slant?

Hi all:
First off, how do es one distinguish between a regular slant and a double slant.. I know that this may b e an obvious question. Second, what is the benefit of one over the other? I think that the double twists the blade more allowing for a closer shave. Finally, who makes a double slant razor. I believe that Hoffritz/merkur had one and I heard about Fasan? Any others?

Thanks,

My guess would be that the term "Double Slant" may be referencing the relative amount of "Slanty-ness".....like razor 3 in my slant photo. Top down these are Merkur, Merkur and Hoffritz. The more slant, the more slicing action you experience. It is my perception anyway, that you can achieve a similar effect by doing the Gillette slide with a razor of a traditional design. The advantage of having that action built into the razor speaks for itself.

Thanks Copierguy. I heard the term used on a few sites which piqued my interest in getting a close shave. I have an open comb slant and wondered if a "double slant" would produce similar or better results. Recently, I almost picked up the Hoffritz in your picture but was beaten out. I'm still in the market though. Thanks again

I've never heard of one.
Sounds nifty though.

I think it is a term coined here and/or other internet shaving sites. I'd never heard of it either until shanman used it here. If you study the shapes of different German slants you will find many varying amounts of "twist" in the heads. Look for a thread titled Schrägschnitthobel-Torsionshobel on a popular German forum.
