Recommend a good Deo

I am running out of my regular deo. I use a spray mass market product (cough cough axe) and I am almost out.

I dont really swear have an odor, unless of course i eat garlic, i was wondering what a good spray deo was?

I am in nyc so i have a selection of most if not all products.

As far as sprays go, I have heard they are poor at masking odour or perspiration, despite their overpowering smell.

Most of the mainstream sprays are all pretty similar IMHO.

Not fond of the sprays. They lose their scent very quickly, and they don't actually deodorize anything if you ask me, just cover it up. You'd be better off going with an antiperspirant (not deodorant) stick like Arrid, and applying a nice cologne of your, or your swmbo's, choosing. If you insist on using a spray, though, I would maybe suggest some of the newer Old Spice scents. Cheers. :a54:

Aubrey Organics Men's Stock deodorant. Good masculine pine scent that is not over powering, but does a great job at neutralizing odor all day. I get mine at Whole Foods

As a very effective deodorant, I have been using one made of alum crystals. This is in the shape of a push up deodorant stick and does a great job.
ken.

I don't recommend getting an antiperspirant because they contain aluminum which is bad for you, and it's not good to stop the natural flow of sweat. I personally find that Old Spice deodorants are the best at deodorizing and have pleasant and not-overpowering scents. I use the bars, though, not the sprays.

Agree with the comments above regarding spray deodorants and personally prefer roll-ons or sticks. The specific type of deodorant you use will be largely based on preference. If aluminum or other chemical substances are a concern for you there is a vast array of natural deodorants (Jason's, Tom's of Maine, etcetera) that work well. Also, there are products you might already have in your bathroom or kitchen that can double very effectively as deodorants. Two that I have found to work very well are milk of magnesia and alum blocks.

I have an allergic reaction to most deoderants. I'm not sure what ingredient does it, but I've tried all the major brands (arrid, degree, etc) and I tried Toms. They all had me itching and burning within minutes of putting them on. The only deoderant I have found so far that does not break me out is Dry Idea unscented gel. I guess one day I may compare ingredients to see if I can figure out what it is that causes it, but for now I'm fine with my $3 deoderant. I dont have any problems with odor using the unscented either.

I'm fairly sure it's not for every kind of skin, but I'm enjoying the L'Occitane Baux deo stick at the moment. Then again I don't sweat all that much.

I've switched to roll-on version of 'natural crystal' deodorant. It works great and does not leave gooey crap all over my shirts.

I also have big problems with allergies to deodorants. For a long time I used Thai crystal with no bad reaction and it seemed to combat odor very nicely. But then I started to itch from it, too. It is heresy on this board, but for more than a year I have been using Axe "Proximity" which is a toned down Axe in supposed pure, classic scents. Right now I am using Bergamot. I find it effective, non-itchy, and the scent blends in pretty well with whatever I chose to wear as an edt.

Alum is the way too go.

I had a korean war vet sub teacher say "if you don't sweat you die". I believe he is right so a little stank from the pits is alright.
