What's new

Please recommend a spray deodorant.

Been absent from B&B for a while, but you guys are easily the best source I know for my question.

I have long been an Old Spice original deodorant user. I switched to it after hunting through a series of AS options, all of which irritated my pits badly. I recently (yesterday) had shoulder surgery, and am not going to be able to use a stick for a while. One of the surgical techs suggested spray as much easier when she was explaining my showering rules. A friend actually suggested an Axe body spray, which surprised me since he's another 50yo guy. (He's a friend i haven't actually seen since college, all virtual, so no idea about how he smells!) So here I am, asking you guys.

I'd like something that isn't likely to irritate, and doesn't have an overpowering smell. There's no need for it to break the bank, unless nothing inexpensive is any good. I assume I should stick with DO only, since AP irritated in solid and gel form.

Thanks guys.

Tough to go wrong with Right Guard Sport Original spray in the big copper-color can, and here in the suburbs north of Chicago it's pretty easy to find. Right now I'm using a can of Old Spice Wilderness Dry Spray that came in a gift set, it seems to work fine for me too with no irritation.

My go to stick is also the Old Spice Original because of irritation problems with many other sticks.

Dove has a reputation for making gentle products.

They do make spray deodorant for men, both armpit and the new whole body variety:

I do use their soap, but have never tried their spray deodorants.

Please note that the link provided is titled “antiperspirant deodorant” but if you zoom in on the images, it is clearly only written “deodorant” on the bottle…antiperspirants are on another part of their site.

+1 on Right Guard Sport. Easily available at any Walmart or supermarket. They even make it in a arresol powder. Arid Extra Dry is another good one. Hope this helps.....

I really like dry spray deodorants. Two good ones are Dove Men+ Care Clean fresh dry spray, and, what I have been using lately Certain Dri Dry spray. Both of these have mellow non upfront scents.

Before I retired I had a job inspecting landfills, so didn't need deodorant. These days I use an old shaving alum block, which I hated on my face. For me, it works as good as any deodorant sold in stores.

Lately I've been doing this: 5-7g aluminum chlorohydrate powder dissolved in 50ml water and 50ml of 90% alcohol. Put in a 125ish ml spray bottle.

I use alum, too. I get mine cheap from Indian merchants, it comes in odd shaped chunks.

Spray deodorant can be obnoxious, most guys that use it, use too much and it just masks odor.
