Received my new brushes from WhippedDog

Hello there.

Today I received my new brushes from Larry at WhippedDog. One is a 24mm Silvertip in with black handle and the other is 22mm black badger in marbled ivory. I have been using an escali badger brush since last fall and these brushes seem much more luxurious. I love the weight of the handles. I had both these brushes set at default lofts and many users have since recommended having them deep set. I will have to see what I like and maybe get some in a future order.



I also received a sample of MWF and two Bald Frog samples (one is bigger because I paid for it). I read a comment in another thread where a user said he received a sample with his order the size of a tictac. This has not been the case for me and I'm sure I will be able to get many shaves out of the smaller sample. I scents were Arabian Hookah and Wasabi.

I like the look of the black badger. I have a 22 uhle black knot set into a Culmak spartan, my only resto amd thoroughly enjoy it when used. Soft with a some backbone. Good with stick IMHO.

What loft did you go with on the Silver tip? It looks awesome!

I echo the statement on the samples from Larry. Mine have been quite large, none of the tictac BS!

I received a small sample of bald frog like yours pictured in the middle. Did have trouble lathering but once I had enough soap the lather was super slick. I am thinking of ordering. Using it like a mini stick worked best.

Mike: I am not sure what the dimensions are. I didn't ask for the extra depth so the holes are drilled to 10 mm. Other users have said that's about 55mm.

Marco: The quality of the handles is wonderful.

Here are both brushes beside my escali after I used oxi clean and shampoo on them.


I am quite surprises how soft the black badger is. I was kind of hoping for something skritchier feeling. That being said, I haven't tried them yet, so I may be surprised.

Can't wait to shave tomorrow.

You will love the silvertip, it is so soft and luxurious but has good backbone too.
The ivory handle with black badger looks absolutely awesome!
