Razorock 888

Guess I am a sucker for the eucalyptus scent. I like Proraso. I have been using Razorock Santa Maria cream and like it very much. It is a very concentrated cream, a little goes a long way. It provides me with a slick and protective shave. I like to use it in the winter as is and on occasion I have been using it recently with a few drops of menthol oil. It does not have a very overpowering eucalyptus scent but it is there, and refreshing. I am due to restock and I am considering ordering Razorock 888 which I understand to have a eucalyptus scent. I would appreciate opinions comparing Razorock Santa Maria to Razorock 888 in performance, scent and value.

I've got both and prefer the 888 in all respects. The smell is a little less overwhelming than the SMN, but still very nice. IMHO though the 888 and the King Louis Lavender are the two best performing RR soaps I've tried - and I've 8 or 9 of them. Maybe the XXX is up there with them. But those two have the same ingredients just a differenct scent between the two - and that set of ingredients happens to work very well for me. Plus the shea butter and other oils leave my face feelinng better than most other soaps do.

I purchased the 888 right before Xmas and had my first shave with it on Xmas Eve. It became an instant favorite as it had all the things a love and need in a shaving soap/cream that being great lather, slickness, and protection plus moisturizing benefits of the shea butter. The fragrance to me is very mild yet as a hint of sweetness to it if that makes any sense, pretty much like the RR King Louis. In terms of the cooling sensation I really don't find much as compared with Proraso, I have not tried RR SMN so could not comment on that comparison. If the menthol sensation is something you are looking for then I strongly encourage you to try QCS Iced Key Lime http://www.queencharlottesoaps.com/ go with the cream as it is the exact same texture as the 888. I have both and love using both as part of my rotation.

I have both S. Maria and 888 and enjoy them both, but I am a huge 888 fan. It is part of RR's karite line, i.e., shea butter soaps, which includes King Louis Lavender. The 888 is a great performer in all respects although I never would have considered comaring it to S. Maria. If you go with 888 for about $16 USD, you are in for a treat.

I had not thought of QCS soaps or creams. Anyone recommend their soaps or creams in terms of performance in comparison to Razorock 888 or Razorock Santa Maria?

I think QCS provides outstanding Soaps, Creams, Aftershave balms and Bath Soaps. I think you should order the 888 and order from QCS throw in a bar of the Vostok bath soap and when the summer comes you will thank me for the wonderful cooling sensation that it provides. I also prefer the Creams over the Shave Soaps as I have said before.
