Razor dissapointment!

Have you ever wanted to try a razor, bought the razor and felt dissapointed with its performance, i felt this with my schick injector, always wanted one and wanted to have great shaves with it (i know folks love this razor and i am not slating it at all) but i have to say i felt a bit dissapointed when i got one, so how about you lot, have you yearned for a razor only to be dissapointed when you finally got it?

A pricey EJ Chatsworth Barley. Beautiful to look at and gives close shaves but I just don't like the weight and the handle and rarely use it.

I recently sold by Merkur 34C to a fellow forumite.....people love them around here, but I was just not getting great shaves out of it compared to my old Gillettes (mainly superspeeds). YMMV.

Many times. Some have been a pleasure, some have been a pain. But, I can tell myself "Been there, done that, and now I know".

Thats whats holding me back in buying the 150 dollar feather razor. I wanna try it real bad but afraid its gonna be a disappointment.

My go to razor these days is the discontinued feather portable. Looking at the pictures of the new feather razor, its difficult for me to judge if the shave will be any different from the portable !

Staying on the thread, I am in love with my almost new looking Gillette New razor. As with other open combs, it gives a close raw shave, but I find something not right, yet to figure out what. Anyone had this feeling with the Gillette New ?

Da! My Merkur slant (37G) was the one I expected too much from. Not that it is a bad performer but it is just not what I hoped for. It was a present from my wife so I try to use it at least once a year......

It is not so much the slanted bar that is the problem but the too short and too heavy handle that I dislike; just like the 34C (HD) it is not the razor for me.

On this line, I am happy, I have had the opportunity to try what I have tried, and narrow down my den to what I am happy with and what works for me.

I would say the only razor that I went 'huh' was the Red tip. I had a Superspeed and then decided to try the more aggressive red tip. I didn't find it more aggressive... I went back to the superspeed. I used the red tip for a week to be sure and decided to sell it.
