R41 = BBS in 2 Passes!

I'm really amazed more and more with how close the R41 (2013) shaves with each shave. I've been using it for a week now and came to the conclusion that I can get a BBS in just 2 passes with some touch-ups. I highly recommend this razor for anyone looking for that super close shave. Technique is definitely crucial with this razor and I'm sure part of it depends on hair growth among other variables of course, so YMMV.

I gotta say, THIS is the shave I was looking for when I started with DE wet shaving! Smoother than ever and more satisfying than anything I've used thus far. Using an Astra SP right now, but will be testing out a Feather blade in the weeks ahead once my technique improves a bit. I'm being super careful and attentive to each pass as I could see the potential to easily get a couple cuts and nicks. However, I think this razor really puts an emphasis on how to improve your technique as you can feel the blade a bit more (but not too much). I've been fortunate to not have any nicks or cuts yet (knock on wood) using this amazing piece of shaving excellence. I may never go back to my Merkur 34C...perhaps that becomes my travel razor...or not...a second R41 may be in the works as well! HA!:thumbup:

I need to re visit my R41 but have been getting results with my Fatip in 2 passes. I always found the ATG pass with the R41 to be rough

My 2013 R41 has been "despatched" from England and is on it's way to me..... but getting the 2013 R41, which is supposed to be milder than the 2011 R41 has got me wondering about an entirely different razor completely. The Above the Tie Atlas system, and more specifically the R1 baseplate versus the M1 baseplate. I really enjoy the close shave that the 2011 R41 and the Atlas R1 give me. They are close and aggressive..... very efficient shavers. But if I'm not VERY careful, either one of those can bite me almost without warning. The other issue with those is that I'm not entirely sure either of them could be a "daily shaver" with relative ease. I think day after day of using either one of those might take it's toll on my face after a while. What I'm hoping with the 2013 R41 is "will I find a close and efficient shaver without the harsh edge associated with the 2011 head?". That lead me to thinking along the same lines with the Atlas razor. It will be interesting to see. If I find a better shave with the 2013 R41, I may be placing an order fairly soon for the M1 baseplate from ATT.
