What's new

Quick Question

I shaved last night and did some XTG for the first time (second shave overall).

Under my jawline, I've still got a bit of "irritation" or "itch" tonight in a few areas. I'd like to get another shave in tonight.

Should I rest my face just to keep my jawline area from getting irritated worse or just go ahead and shave, following up with cold water and some of the Nivea aftershave balm (all I have at this point)?

Sometimes I go over spots with irritation from yesterdays shave. Sometimes I get away with it....others I need to take a day or two break to let the new mess heal up.

Give it a break for a day or two. As you work on your technique you'll find your shaves improving as you go. Be sure to keep a light touch, and take a look at Mantic's shave video's. By all means don't try to use pressure on rough area's. It could also be the blade your using. Be sure to get a blade sample pack from any of the vendors. :thumbup1:

Invest in an alum block if you don't already have one. They can be had for about $13.00 or so and some even come with a plastic holder. After you shave, splash your face with cool water and gently rub the alum block all over your face. It will disinfect your skin and promote healing of the damaged skin surface.
After rubbing the block over your face, rinse and pat dry. Usually by the next day, all irritation and damage is repaired and you can go right back at it again. At least this is how it works for me. I do shave with a DE razor though, not a straight. If I tried shaving with a straight razor with my eyesight and eye-hand co-ordination, an alum block wouldn't do a bit of good. I would need stitches and a ready supply of plasma.
