Question on Merkur Slant

I know this has been discussed endlessly, but I just do not get it. How does a slant give a more aggressive, maybe even closer/better shave. Logic tells me that considering the bar is slanted, my shave is going to be uneven. Obviously this is not the case though because no one would be using them. I just don't get how they work but I am thinking of buying one. Someone school me please.

Imagine a guillotine.

+2 I have just started using a slant and the shaves have been amazing. Yesterday I changed the Astra blade I had been using for a brand new Feather and the results were better still. I can't believe I waited so long to try a slant. I can see it becoming one of my favourite razors.

Matt --

The slant induces a twist in the blade and you end up with a radial edge. This provides a 'shearing' action rather than linear 'cutting' with a straight edge. It's a little different, but gives a really nice shave.

Well put. Concise, accurate, to the point.

+1

Of all the razors I have, I consistently receive the best shaves from the Slant.

That's a great description.
