Question for the injector folks

Help me out a bit. I am experience with DE's and SE (Gem types), but have always had a difficult time with the injector I have. It is a Schick Type E and I am using the currently available Schick blades. I can't seem to get a shave with some bleeders around my chin. I have made numerous attempts to get along with it, but I always end up putting it back on the shelf after a couple of weeks.
Are there better injectors out there? Are these famous/infamous bad shavers? I prefer milder razors (Kronas, Gem G-bars, Superspeeds, etc). Any suggestions on other injectors to try? I am debating about just selling it and scrapping the idea of using injectors. It frustrates me to no end.

While the Type E's are perhaps the most aggressive of the Schick lineup, you should still be able to get a bloodless shave out of one. Two thoughts: are you using the same angle as you would using a DE? If so, try using a much shallower angle. For me, injectors work best if the head of the razor is just about flush with my skin.

Also, unlike DE's, where damage is easily detectable, injectors are much more prone to alignment issues that are not immediately obvious to the naked eye. For instance, I have a Type G that, no matter how I tweak it, goes directly from cutting nothing at all to a blood-letting monster. It could be that's your problem, and if so I don't have any recommendations for you except to try another razor.

I'm sure that there will be more knowledgable members along to give you more advice in a bit, but that's all I've got for you. Good luck, keep us posted, and don't give up on injectors just yet--when they're good, they're so easy to shave with it should almost be illegal!

Thanks, Wingnut. I feel like I have the angle down well. I have wondered about the blades being the issue. Case in point -- Gem blades are fantastic in my SE razors, Pal blades are sheer butchery on my face.
Any suggestions for milder injectors? I am game on trying others.

I've only used the Chinese Schicks, and they work very well for me, so I've got no suggestions for you there.

Generally, the newer an injector is, the milder it is. The Tyoe L mentioned by the beav is a good choice, IMO.

I too prefer the Schick blades and the Type L is very mild, smooth shaver. YMMV

J-type, too, are easy peasy. For me, the G and E are pretty similar. F-type seems more aggressive than any of my others. That being said, I love the injectors. Lately, the E is my daily driver.

You've received a lot of good advise here.

If you like SuperSpeeds....
Then try any Shick from the "I" series or further down the alphabet towards the "L" and you should be ok...
They are milder than your "E" if you find them to be too mild don't hesitate to use more pressure,Shick actually recommended not to stretch skin, but to let the pressure of the guard bar smooth out skin and set up whiskers in the instructions that ship with some of their razors

The "L" type is too mild for me,YMMV

Dear brother Triple Beam,

I too had problems with the Type E butchering my face, while all the other Injector Types gave me close, comfortable, and safe shaves.

Then I learned the secret (at least for me) with the Type E: Move the razor SLOWLY over your face, combined of course with the correct angle and a light pressure.

Also a tallow soap might give a little cushion.[/SIE]
