Question about Merkur Futur

I just received a new Merkur Futur in chrome.

My other razors are as follows:
Trumper Double-edge in Simulated Ivory (12 years old)
Merkur Progress

I keep a supply of the following blades:
Feather
Astra SP
7 O'clock (yellow)
Derby
Wilkinson Sword

Can anyone suggest which of these blades
might best suit the Merkur Futur?

+1. The futur is a good razor for any blade I have. Definitely start low, between 1 and 2.

I normally use the Progress set at 3.5 with Feather blades. I cannot decide whether I should proceed in like manner with the Futur.

I've found that my best blades in other razors were Astra SP's and they are the best in the Futur for me too. The only way to know is to load a blade up and see how it shaves. The Futur does seem to make almost any blade shave well.

I agree with what has been said above that the Futur flatters most blades. I will say that of the brands you have the Feather would be my choice. Set around 4 for the first shave it is like butta, I usually bump it up on the second and third shave.

I would recommend to start with the Derby at the lowest setting.

Use whatever blade you like but set it on low.

Give yourself at least a few weeks to get use to it.

As others have echoed a great razor for a day and a half growth. I would use the Gillette Yellow with a setting to start at 1 wtg x2. Then check to see how you feel and go up from there. Good luck. I like minea lot.
