Provence Sante or Cella

Which should I choose for a winter soap, and why? (Let's assume, hypothetically, that the standard B&B answer of "both" does not apply. )

Personally, I got pretty bad razor burn from Provence Sante, while Cella always provides a smooth shave. I like the smell of both, but I would have to say Cella is the clear winner for me in terms of lather and end result.

Good luck with your decision.... and of course it would be best to get both.... for comparison sake!

Cella moisturizes really well. I'm looking forward to using it during a tough Maine winter.

I've had both and for me Provence Sante is the clear winner. Both make great lathers and shave well. Cella is also moisturizing for me, but the shea butter in the Sante is particularly kind to my skin. Sante also wins the smell category for me by a landslide, as Cella starts to take on a funky smell after a while.

I'm kind of a "tallow snob" when it comes to shaving soaps, but to me Provnce Sante is the exception and takes a backseat to no soap!

Same here ... Provence Sante is one of the only shaving soaps that I can't shave with. I used it two or three times before I decided its not for me. Its just too painful, and I've never really figured out why. (Despite the razor burn, it does give a good close shave.)

Oddly, though ... it makes a great face-scrub and pre-shave. The shea butter makes for a rich, creamy lather that really softens up my beard. But I have to wash it off before I put on another soap (usually L'Occ Cade) to shave with.

I love the scent of Provence Sante. I just wish it would last longer.

I haven't tried Cella, but it is on the wish list.

Really tough question--I just got Provence Sante and really like it. It is definitely in the rotation to stay and the earthenware pot is awesome. But you can't go wrong with Cella.

If I had to choose 1--Cella by a nose. Well, not nose, because I like how PS smells. Cella by a hair, as in it cuts the hair ever-so-slightly better. Wow, that was confusing. And yet I'm not deleting it. Instead....post quick reply now before I think better of it. And no editing either

Cella is a very good soap, I like it much more than Provence Santé. It's easy to produce a very good lather, and is very moisturizing. I always get great shaves with Cella.

Join the church of Cella. Amazing stuff. Not overbearing, but leaves your face in super shape. Cheap too!

Cella here as well. I'm not real big on the smell but it isn't very strong when it lathers.
