Scents Similar to SV 70th or Cella Red AS

I’ve been greatly enjoying the Cella red aftershave and, just a few days in, SV’s 70th Anniversary soap. From some comments here and there on B&B I understand these may both be in the same scent family as the original Eau de Cologne. I don’t know anything about scents, perfumes, etc.

Can y’all help me figure out a few products to try in this vein? What are the classic cologne fragrances? And, even if not classic, what are some of your favorites?

Ariana & Evans Ultima Barbiere Classico and Barrister & Mann Seville are really nice. Although not classic I really like House of Mammoth Voices.

IMHO, Cella aftershave is a classic 'barbershop/talcum/soapy' scent.
Not often used for colognes, again IMHO.
This is very, very subjective.
You'll have to experiment and see what you might like!
I'm thinking of chypre stuff perhaps, or sandalwood or even oud.
Good luck!

Cella red and SV’s 70th Anniversary are both solid choices, and you’ve definitely tapped into a classic scent family with those. If you’re into that old-school vibe, you’re talking about fragrances that usually have a citrusy, herbal, and slightly spicy profile. The original Eau de Cologne is known for its fresh and clean notes, with a mix of citrus (like lemon, bergamot, and orange) and herbal undertones (like lavender, rosemary, and neroli).
try 4711 Original Eau de Cologne: This is the OG of colognes, dating back to the 18th century. It’s light, refreshing, and very much in that classic citrus and herbal category. It’s not super long-lasting, but it’s a piece of history and a great intro to the scent profile.
Also Acqua di Parma Colonia is another classic, with a refined Italian twist. It’s got that citrus-forward opening but with a more complex base that includes lavender and rosemary. Definitely a bit more sophisticated, and it’s been a staple for a reason.

I've been looking for something to replace my tin of SV Colonia, since that isn't available any longer. 70th maybe?
