Products made in Maine? Anyone tried these?

Just out of curiousity, has anyone tried the Maine Shave (http://www.maineshave.com) line of products and the Portland General Store (http://www.etsy.com/shop/portlandgeneralstore) products? These businesses are semi-local to me (10 and 30 minutes respectively) and I do like to support local business when I can. Just curious about the products quality and such.

I'm new to DE shaving and don't have much in the way of aftershaves as of yet and was looking to acquire some different things.

I haven't, but thanks for pointing them out! I'm putting in an order to Portland General Store right now. They're local to me, too, and they deserve our encouragement!

If you don't mind me asking, which products did you get? Let me know what you think when you get them.

I'd be curious about the Portland General Store offerings. Although, if they are located on India Street, I might just have to mosey down at lunch time and see what they have. I just looked at the Maine Shave site and didn't find anything shave related except for a DE razor and blades.

I have tried several local products for shaving soaps, etc and have been less than impressed. The Maine soapmakers I've tried have yet to formulate a good soap for shaving. Mother Mabel's, which you can find in Whole Foods, is passable shaving soap, but they don't come close to touching something like St. Charles Shave's soaps (as far as smaller soapmakers around B&B). One soapmaker I tried said that her husband shaves with her soap every day. After using it for several days, I assumed that her husband didn't like to shave with a lather.

As much as I'd like to keep my shaving $$ in our home state, I have yet to find products that will prevent me from crossing state lines or international borders.

maineshave.com has a shaving cream, they are out of stock at the moment, but I have contacted the owner and he is expecting to make more soon. I haven't tried it yet, but apparently the owner puts together a "Shaving Ritual" 4 product set which includes the cleanser, shave cream, toner, moisturizer.

Back in the summer, I saw a thread in the Soaps forum about a soap called "Dirty Moose". It is a goat's milk based soap and the lather in the pics looked pretty good. They have a website, and are based in Saco, south of Portland.
