Practice rewarded

this morning I finally achieved a dam'd fine shave with my INVICTA straight. adjust this, adjust that, practice the other and presto! it all comes together. In fact, it is almost BBS most areas but under the jawline and lower lip. Only 3 weeks work I think that's pretty good.

From 0 to near BBS in three weeks? Outstanding!:a14::a14::a14:

Yes, when seen in that light it is a bit outrageous, isn't it. But see my thread "there and back again".
I am not a new wet shaver, having learned it as a spotty youth, both DE and SE. Was gifted an electric when I went away to college in '73. Went back to wet shaving at the start of the disposible craze and have been a cartridge shaver for decades. The straights I picked up at auction about '74 or '75 and I've put them to use for a month out of every 5 years or so. However, in the beginning the best stone I had was a 1000 grit, and shaving was no fun. About 10 years ago I found a razor hone for a dollar and picked it up, but its a long step from 1000 to 10000 and I didn't get a good edge then either. Last year I acquired a Norton 4000 so when I got the urge last month, I was able to put a shaving edge on the INVICTA (I'm sure others could improve on it.) That helped a lot. see also the thread "sudden change of direction" for the latest update.
