Potables, Hotables?

Have been researching and note-taking; more note-taking than researching but such is usually the case. This is strictly subjective as is with one's taste(s) but nevertheless.

Spirits aged in reused barrels, demand has outstripped supply, some of the contents not up to the quality of the past? Use of those having held more assertive contents such as Bourbon, Rum, Port, Sherry, etc. the reason? Previously used barrels less expensive, supply of suitable mediums for aging finite; demand for the potables aged in them infinite as they become available internationally; population increases geometrically, supply increases arithmetically? Malthusian Theorem applicable to potables also converse of Say's Law?

Smaller producers do not do much advertising because of cost while large conglomerates may be putting more money into their advertising and less into their products to the detriment of the consumer? Advertising sells?

Rum is becoming the next "find" internationally?

Mash bills gravitating toward less expensive mediums?

More standardization in products? Less individuality? Good or bad for consumers?

It sure seems like barely swapping is the new thing right now for sure.
Not sure how to feel about the new love affair the public has with rum right now as aged rum is my favorite. It was nice getting a great aged rum on the cheap, but now there are more choices.
