Poll: Where (on your face :) do you start shaving?

So just about every ad/movie/TV show I've seen shows a guy starting to shave and he puts the razor on his left or right sideburn area and pulls down.

I will admit I do too out of habit, but sometimes there's a reason to do otherwise.

I have always started on the left sideburn. So left cheek was my vote.

Wasn't me but I do shave there - makes haircuts last longer.

I start at the bottom of my neck and shave "south to north" because for me that's with the grain. This really helped me with neck skin irritation.

Interestingly, if I’m using a DE I almost always start at my Right Sideburn.

When using a SR, always starts at the Left Sideburn.

Looks like the votes so far don’t quite bear this out but I initially wondered whether it would be more common to go top-down and left to right because that’s how we write in the West. Seems like starting on the right is more common at the moment, though, which might reflect hand-dominance.

I find that the hardest part to shave benefits from the sharpest blade. Therefore I always start in the moustache area when the blade is at it's sharpest, since that area has the toughest whiskers for me.

Years ago, I learned to start by shaving my neck to allow more time for the soap to soften the facial beard. Not sure if it is accurate, but it seems to work.
