Please help me identify this kit/razor

Hi there!

I have been thinking for a few weeks now to buy a safety razor and see if it something for me and as a poor student I'm looking for a bargain and found this set for $5 at one on-line auction but the seller don't know what brand/make the razor is but maybe someone here can identify it?

lookls like a soligen/germany type travel set, germany is known for their 100;s of travel razor sets. looks like a nadir ornate handle, old type razor

Ok, do you think it can be a good beginners razor or should I buy something "safe" like Merkur or Parker?

It might not be a great beginner razor, but if you get it for a good price, I imagine tha you can trade it for something that is and get some extras in the deal. i find the older sets interesting in themselves, as well as for the razors they contain.

Any razor could be good for a beginner, it depends on the individual. And at that price I don't think you can go wrong.
