I recently posted in B/S/T looking for a 1961 Fatboy or Slim. My brother had given me our grandfather's straight razor a few months ago (my brother knew of my straight razor "hobby"). As a "thank you" I wanted to get to my brother a birth year razor (my brother was born in February). A B&B member quickly notified me that he had a nice 1961 Fatboy he would be willing to sell (I haven't asked the B&B member if I can identify him and didn't want to do so without asking him). The member shipped the razor right away. He knew that I was on vacation, so he didn't wait for my PayPal payment. He said he knew "I would get to it when I had a chance" (although I was able to make the payment later that day). When I arrived home today from a nine day vacation, I found two packages waiting for me. The first package was from the B&B member who sold me the Fatboy. Not only was there a beautiful G-1 Fatboy, but also a "bonus" Gem SE. He knew that I had never tried a DE or SE, and thought he would "throw it in" so I could "give it a go."
The other package was from Ron at Star Shaving. I do not have any affiliation with Star Shaving other than being a customer. I recently ordered a Chrom Ox balsa strop and liked it so much that I ordered a lap top latigo leather and diamond pasted laptop strop. I mistakenly ordered the diamond paste on balsa instead of felt. They sent another balsa strop with Chrom Ox. I contacted Ron, and he said "just keep the what we sent," and then promptly sent a felt with diamond paste. I have purchased a number of products from Ron and have been extremely pleased with their service.
I just felt I needed to say something publicly about both of these "gentleman." Unfortunately, fewer and fewer people today feel a need to stand behind what they say and "honor their word." These two men dealt with me honestly and truly know the meaning of "service."
