My wife is on her way to Japan for short business trip later this week. I noticed that the Platinum 3776 Bourgogne is selling for about $75 from a number of Japanese retailers right now. I saw one in Japan a couple of weeks ago and I thought that it was a nice looking pen, but I didn't get a chance to write with it. Anybody have one? What do you think? If it's nice, I might get her to pick one up for me.

I didn't know they ever went that low, sounds like quite a deal! Any sub-$100 Japanese gold nib pen (new) is something to look at.
If it is anything like this 3776 then it is very worthy, I used to have one but had to sell it to finance another project.
I'm also intrigued with the slip&seal cap mechanism on the red demonstrator. I'd say get one!

That's a beautiful one, Doug. I like the pattern.
The ones I saw when I was in Japan--the burgundy one as well as two others (blue and black, I think)--retailed for ¥10500. That converts to about $100 these days. On Japanese amazon, there are quite a few marked down to ¥75-7600 yen. I only discovered that when I looked for one to show to my wife when I got back. I wanted to show how disciplined I was that I didn't spend $100 on an impulse buy.
Your comments might have pushed me past the tipping point. I'll see if I can figure out how to have one delivered to my wife's hotel while she's there.

I pulled the trigger on it! ¥7342 w/free shipping = $73.36. It should make it to my wife's hotel early on in her trip. Hope it turns out to be nice!
There's a limited edition blue one with gold trim I really like the looks of in that series

It'll be a couple of weeks, but I'll post something as soon as I get the pen and see how it works.
It's on my "wishlist" of modern pens that I eventually need to buy. You should totally get one so that I can live vicariously through you until I eventually get mine. 
$75, to me, is a buy, buy, buy. Even if you don't like it you could flip it on ebay for a profit.
