I firmly believe that one of the premiere benefits of smoking a pipe over a cigar (though I do love both) is far more esoteric than the obviously much larger flavor spectrum available in pipe tobacco, and the wonderful rituals associated with smoking a pipe vs cigar...for me, I love that a pipe is capable of retaining the memories of previous smokes over the years... which is something I try to treasure.
I've often picked up a pipe I haven't smoked in months, or years, and I'm mentally or emotionally brought back in a time when the pipe was in my hand. almost like I'm transported back in time.
Like a good tune, a good pipe can bring you to a wonderful place of memories just by holding it in your hand, the fact you can smoke it for even more pleaure - simply joie de vivre!!
