Pipe and Cigar Smoke Scented Shaving Soaps

Friends:

I am looking for pipe and cigar smoke scented shaving soap (not tobacco, but smoke) to evoke the cherished memory of my dearly departed father who smoked pipes and cigars.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Straight Razor Designs has a soap called OPUS X. I've read it's pipe tobacco scented. Not sure about the smoke part as I haven't tried it.

I gifted the MB aromatic pipe tobacco to my FIL and it didn't smell like smoke. It smelled more like a blend of leather, cherries, and vanilla.

I tried this one as well and thought it leaned more heavily on the vanilla really.

After what I have seen thus far, I think my quest for smoke-scented soap is going, well... up in smoke! I think I will have to settle for tobacco, but no one who posted her seems happy with MB for her aromatic tobacco. On another blog, I saw one or more positive posts for Tcheon Fung Sing hard soap Tobacco Verde. Does anyone have any experience withe that one?

About the closest thing I can think of to something smoke scented would be D.R. Harris Marlborough. I personally think it's a heavenly scent, but you hear a lot of comparisons to dirty ashtrays from people that don't like it. You can also check out The Shave Den. They have scents such as Crackling Firewood and Gunpowder that I've never tried and can't comment on, but it might be worth looking into.

I started smoking a pipe last month and your posts got me wondering about a pipe tobacco scented soap. I have DRH Marlborough and I place it in the Tabac family of scents. While I like the scent of Tabac, it does not remind me of pipe tobacco. I looked at TFS a few months back, but from what I remember it's also in the Tabac scent family and I didn't order. Today I shaved with SRD West Indies Bay for the first time in several months. I forgot how much I like this glycerin soap, so after my shave I ordered their Opus X. I'll let you know how close that one comes to a pipe tobacco scent.

Thanks, brother! Finally, someone on the same quest! Can't wait to hear your feedback.

Tabacco Verde is fresh green tobacco, so it's nowhere near the smoky scent that you're after.

I tried the Castle Forbes cedarwood and sandalwood last night. It smelt like old cigarette/pipe/cigar smoke to me. Like a house that had been inhabited by smokers. The lather was excellent, and CF definitely deserves its reputation, but the scent wasn't for me. I'm not trying to hate on it... that's just how the fragrance came across to me... like tobacco smoke. Could be what you're looking for?

For me, there is a distinct difference between pipe, cigar, and cigarette, and ashtray aromas. And there is a big difference between fresh, active smoke from a cigar or pipe, and a room or a car that has been smoked in. I am looking for either an active pipe (like cherry tobacco) smoke, or cigar smoke, but definitely not cigarette or ashtray smoke, or old musty room smoke. I am also interested in fresh, loose cut cherry tobacco, the kind you would put in a pipe before lighting it.

Understood. Keep in mind that to me, all smoke stinks. Although I do love the smell of unsmoked tobacco, like what's in the Never-Ending Travel Box currently at my house.

fwiw, plenty of people LOVE the cedar & sandalwood from CF, it's just not for me.

QCS offered a cherry tobacco scent called 'Briar'. You may be able to get some on BST or have them whip up a batch for you. I can't speak to the scent cuz I've never used it.

I had some CF Cedar/Sandalwood a couple of years ago. I liked the scent, but it reminded me of a lumber yard, think cedar sawdust or pencil shavings. You could also contact some of the artisan makers like QCS and ask.
