Tobacco Scent Shave Soaps

I either love or hate tobacco scent. I love Henri et Victoria Cognac and Cuban Cigars, PAA Cavendish, Latherbros(gone?) Irish Cubano, Soapy Bathman's Cigar Lounge and never heard of Shaver Heaven Green Tobacco and Beaver Woodright Captain's Pipe. ( I don't like spice, cinnammon, netmeg, chocolate and coffee scents in shave soaps, add tobacco with them... forget it!)

There is one tobacco soap that I love wholeheartedly, the RazoRock Santa Maria del Fiore. The fragrance is an exquisite toscano cigar with hints of vanilla and amber, just very lightly mentholated. To me one of the finest TFS creations ever. Magnificent.

I bought this many years ago and tried it once and put it away. Very nice scent very nice splash very nice artwork and glass container. I used it again just now and it was a average shave while shaving, But now 30 minutes later it feels like a much better shave. (I also get the opposite, where I enjoy the shave but a while later it doesn't feel right) I do own 65+ brands 440 shaving soaps. Today I used my favorite blade Bolzano and reliable razor Merkur 34G and razorock boar brush. Great shaves to me are Southern Witchcraft, House of Mammoth and MacDuff's. I really dont smell tobacco today though two youtube videos also said tobacco scent.

It is in my calendar book. Will try again in 30 days. :)

This soap is supposed to include the actual fragrance from Santa Maria Novella called Tobaco Tuscano. It has tobacco leaf scent notes, but also amber, birch, leather, vanilla, bergamot, musk and some other notes. There's also eucalyptus and menthol in the soap. So, quite a complex mix.

yes yes. The eucalyptus and menthol was negligible, which is fine as I rarely like them, though I love Catie's Bubbles Waterlyptus. I will revisit the Santa Maria in a month.

I only own 2 brands and 2 shaving soaps, I'm a total newbie.

I am 70 years old and in my opinion the very very very most important part of the shave is the BLADE. Followed by the razor. I hate Feather blades and love Bolzano blades. In my opinion a good brush will improve a mediocre shaving soap but a "bad" brush will ruin a good shaving soap. Again in my opinion if you feel burning or super tightness after a shave that means your blade and or razor is too aggresive. Don't blame the aftershave! Always apply aftershave on a clean face. i tried the multi pack of different blades and more than once changed the blade in mid shave after a few strokes, "you don't get a 2nd chance to make a good first impression". Problems in my opinion are: blade, razor, brush. Rarely shaving soap or aftershave.

Words of wisdom, Sir.

Of course, I was joking before. I come from a family of wet shavers started more than a century ago with my Great-Grandfather. I myself have +30 years of experience under my belt. I have used and owned hundreds of soaps of all kinds, in any price point and from all over the world. I have been a tester for soaps before they were released to the public and given a honest and attentive evaluation of them. I also tested prototype soaps that actually never went into production. Now, I narrowed down my rotation to 8/10 soaps which have deserved a permanent spot in my den.

LOL I own way too many soaps but I also collect them for the artwork. Ironically two of my favorite looking soaps have scents I cant stand. It's 2024 and I don't think there is a bad soap out there though many average. It is very subjective. There are two artisan soap makers whose soaps I don't like at all and one famous artisan soap maker who is average to me and I don't see (feel smell) all the fuss. Special shout out to Southern Wichcraft and House of Mammoth for their unique scents and all around great shaves. Areffa, Lothur and Oaken Labs give my closest one pass shaves but Oaken's "Earth of Mankind" is a horrible scent and I don't like Oaken's other 3 scents either. Saponificio Varesino (11 soaps amazing splashes) Moon Soaps (10 soaps) and Henri Et Victoria (12 soaps) are my favorites scents as a group. RIP Lakewood Soaps (8 soaps) love the scents. MacDuff's (9 soaps) great lather great artwork, big outdoor scents. I have to bowl shave and don't like looking at the soaps in the containers lol Great artwork on Summer Breaks (7 soaps) "Cannonball" soap/splash spot on! and the new ELEVEN containers (8 soaps) My favorite ALL AMERICAN (in my opinion) splashes are Fine A. (5) and Chiseled face. (8) .Clubman(10) will always have a place in my heart. I am not remembering a lot lol Thanks!

I would like you to tell "the powers that be" that in 2024 there is no excuse for not having nice artwork on the containers. Also very important to me is the FEEL of the container. If it feels cheap that is annoying. I also don't like see thru containers. First you look then you hold the container. You are already forming an opinion (even if you don't want to admit it) before you open the container. Then looking at the consistency of the soap play a part. I did not like my JABOBMAN shave and I am sure their very ugly container played tricks on my head. LOL I only bought one. If I like a soap i try to buy 7, one for each day of the week. In closing; Sites that have a lot of "out of stock" are unprofessional. Being a small mom and pop shop is no excuse. Either you are running a business or you are not.

That is so many soaps, I was wondering how you choose which one to use? Dice rolls, Excel spreadsheets, put on a blindfold and pick one out?

:D
Lolol no no no. I set my mind on collecting the soaps. A lot I use once and then put them away in my collection. I try to collect 7 soaps per brand. one for each day of the week. I haven't been following my one brand a week schedule because I recently came back to this site and have been using whatever shaving soap or brand I been discussing with someone. So if you and I discuss a soap or brand I will use that soap or brand tomorrow morning and give you my very opinionated bias review!

I have no idea how I forgot to include this AMAZING tobacco scent "Tobacco Flower" from Moon Soaps! This with "Cognac and Cuban Cigars" by Henri et Victoria then "Cavendish" by PAA are my favorite tobacco scents

I only have two soaps that are considered tobacco scented, Long Rifle 1776 and Razorock Puros. I enjoy both although the scents are somewhat different.
