Pilot Metro users

So during my re-acquaintance with wet shaving I have begun a small razor AD, soap AD and fragrance AD. My wife jokes that there is a small surprise package for me at the house almost daily (she's exaggerating - mostly). So when I started into FP's I expected the same reaction. To my surprise, she really liked my Metro, and the idea of the FP so I ordered her one and a selection of green inks, her favorite color.

The issue she has had that I haven't is the small fill size of the included squeeze converter. Does anyone know if the CON 50 pilot converter holds a larger amount, and is it larger enough to be worth buying? I posed this to Goulet on their site but I haven't heard back. Thanks for any help.

I would imagine that refilling the cartridges will give you the most capacity if that's what you're wanting. Not the most convenient, of course.

Is that a syringe activity? I have only used the converters so far. For me they work fine, I only take notes at work and I try to limit the amount of them I take anyway! My wife is writing in a journal and I am filling the pen every couple of days it feels like.

If I am busy I may need to refill a few times a day ;) Three or so legal sized pages is good depending on saturation, nib width etc. My BB and B get filled up quicker. My flex pens use ink ever quicker than that!

Eye dropper the Metros?

What flex pens do you have John? ,

How much ink does the bulb filler hold?

Another option is to buy another pen if you carry two you only use half as much :biggrin1:

Eversharp Symphony 713. Semi-flex. Eats the ink. I picked up another pen I'll post in the acquisition thread ;) This one is Andy's fault.

You can't eyedropper metal bodied pens, as the metal can react with the ink.

An option is to to the cartridge hack - basically take a cartridge, cut the tail end off and glue on an ink sac - converts your cartridge into a bulb filler.

I think this is stickied in here somewhere.

The metro has a metal body? My bad. :)

Red, filling a cartridge with a syringe is no big deal, AND they do hold a lot more ink. Chef mentioned using it as an eyedropper. Basically you just fill the barrel up with a LOT of ink. A dab of the oft mentioned silicone plumbing grease on the threads is good insurance against leaks. I have not used my Metro that way, but I have done with a 78g. Good results. As you may know, one "issue" with ED pens is their inclination to burp blobs of ink when the ink supply is getting low and the pen heats up in your hand. It is very exciting and gives the pen loads of personality but women don't seem to appreciate that as much. My wife's exact words were, "Don't put that anywhere NEAR me!" I think she used more than one exclamation mark. If the little woman is going through the ink 1) why not show / teach her to refill it herself? 2) perhaps now would be a good time for another pen? ....( I started my wife with some cheap chinese pens that did not stick. Then a pretty Yellow Sailor Sapporo, she took the bait. The latest is a Sailor EF nib desk pen set the hook.)
