Personna 74's

I was in a local antique mall and discovered 2 metal slips of Personna 74's DE's and Injectors. $2.00 each. Didn't know about them. After researching 74's , I will be returning and buying all 4 for 8 bucks. Tungsten Swedish steel that would hold an edge for months! WOW! King Camp was rolling in his grave, I bet. A blade that last months....no we can't be having that!

Injectors were gone, but I got the DE's.

I'd like to know amongst the member who actually shaved with the P74, who many shave did you got before tossing the blade ?

I got a full 30 days from the de blade. I used a 40s Super Speed but then switched to an LC New for the last 10. All DFS or sometimes better.

Just scored some P74s myself from Amazon (the DE kind)...after overcoming some challenges extracting the blades from the cartridge, I loaded one into a Weber Bulldog, which is currently the #1 razor in my rotation. I did the full prep this morning, including Proraso Pre, TOBS Grapefruit and a bowl lather.

I could not feel the blade cutting, but it was indeed doing a nice job, and I ended up with a DFS with three passes and some touch-ups. It will probably take me a few shaves to determine where the P74 falls on a the sharpness side, but if past and present posts are any indication, I will probably be exceeding my personal record of 5 shaves with a single blade by next week!

You should get 4 times the shaves of a regular blade. At least.

Three shaves in, and the P74 feels like it is just doing a warmup jog around the track. And I've never had a blade that cleans up as effortlessly on the chin and upper lip with the ATG passes. Truly a marvel.

I get +/- 25 shaves from a 74. The first couple are exceptionally sharp and then until the end smooth sailing, imagine a new (and better) Iridium lasting three weeks. Edwin Jagger razor and Buckthorn soap are current combo. Very happy camper here. Others have commented on the high cost per blade but failed to factor the huge sweet spot in durability...20+ shaves without a flinch for first shave caution or blade drag at the end for three weeks and at less than 30 cents per blade on average. I sold some of the stash I have to offset cost but I won't again should the opportunity arise.
