People seem to love the BB cream So I have a few questions. Is the stuff in the big jar the same as what's in the tube? They make tubes of cream other than BB, e.g., Endymion, Opus 1870 and Castile. Do all of those perform the same as the BB. A couple of those are no longer available. So I'm guessing that the ones I see available are somewhat older, which leads me to ask whether the current formulation was changed recently or has it remained unchained for a while? And finally, if I pick up one of the ones that are out of production what are the chances the product will have deteriorated, or is it likely to be as good as ever if it's never been opened?

Perso I have the BB jar, was a present, and I much more happy with it than with the soap..
Not sure to buy it again ...but would be interested to fill up the jar again with the tube one

The stuff in the big jar is the same as what's in the tube; however, some members have complained about the tubes being watery and runny. I have owned a tube of BB and Endymion and not experienced this. The BB jar is absolutely fantastic and I think it's worth the extra cost. The other scents perform the same as the BB. I believe they are the same base formula. I haven't heard anything about a formulation change. I think you'll probably be fine getting an out of production scent but if it's been more than a couple years I would probably steer clear.

I have the jar and also had the tube until I finished it a few months back. I was one of the people who ended up with a runny tube but it in no way affected either the wonderful scent or performance. I also have a tube of Endymion but haven't used it yet due to having too many open creams already.

The Castile tube performed fine.
But there's nothing quite like the scent of BB.

Yep, same cream in the tubes and tubs. As the tub is only an extra $10 over the tube it's worth the extra money for the classy and fantastic presentation. I have the jar and reorder tubes to refill the jar when its empty. Endymion cream is identical in performance, and a great scent. I just wish that Pen's would bring back English Fern in a shave cream though....

I think the jar of BB is the ultimate in presentation of any shaving software out there.... including AdP, C&S, etc. The Pen's creams all perform great and have wonderful scents.

The only Pen's cream I've used is the now-defunct Douro, which only ever came in a tube. It smelled great - about as high-class barbershop as it gets. Functionally, it was on a par with the better English creams, although a bit lighter perhaps than the best of them. Also, the heavy scent made irritation an issue for me. FWIW, I also had the Douro a/s balm and bath soap. The bath soap was outstanding - very traditional, English, tallow-based soap (again, no more). I hated the balm, though - very heavy, with an ingredients list a mile long, including salicylic acid. That one I don't miss at all.
