Peanut butter as shaving cream?!

I haven't tried peanut butter as shaving cream, yet. And yes, I do know who Barry Goldwater is. :tongue_sm

i'm guessing it won't lather too well...

i know who goldwater is, although he's technically before my time. :tongue_sm

I am normally an extra chunky peanut butter kinda guy but I would have to make an exception in this case.

Are you serious?

I mean about not knowing who Barry Goldwater is?

Unfortunately I am sir, well a Google search of the name gave me some information but I hadn't heard about him before. However, since I'm a Swedish guy who recently turned 18 I am not sure that knowing who he is are necessary a part of the general knowledge :tongue_sm

The guy was apparently an ex president candidate if i got it right, anybody who knows why he gave shaving advices?

Technically before my time as well, but I remember when he passed away. The U.S. would have been a different place had Barry, beaten Lyndon Johnson for President. Most of Goldwater's supporters backed Ronald Reagan during his election. Goldwater was an avid outdoorsman, and the peanut butter quote was in reference to feeling the need to shave on an extended camping trip, and having to use peanut butter in lieu of shaving cream. I'd assume the high oil content of the peanut butter would serve to help the razor glide, but would be a bear to rinse between passes.

I like the quote and maybe some here would try it, but I would no more shave with peanut butter than I would eat a Proraso and jelly sandwich. :001_rolle

Interesting, thanks for the information! Sorry if I got you wrong, but does that mean you have heard this peanut butter quote before? If it's a common quote, someone must have tried this and I'm still interested if someone here have or have heard of someone who have and how it turned out.

This was discussed on this forum about a month ago, I think, so many of us have, indeed, heard the quote.

In America, this guy is pretty well known. He was a very right wing, strict Constitutionalist kind of guy from Arizona who ran for President back in (I think) 1964. (Everything I just wrote is strictly from memory, not Google, so I could be wrong. Google-meisters, feel free to correct me.) Anyway, Goldwater is pretty much legendary.

Oh my, what is happening around here today? First a thread about Thunderbird wine etc., and now this.

I suspect Obama, but cannot prove it.:lol::lol:

He would be considered a very moderate conservative by the end of his political career.
He was pro gays in military and pro abortion.
I think HBO did a show on him a couple of years back that was impressive.
I liked him a lot even if I didn't always agree with what he said and how he evolved.

"I always came away...with the impression that he was a great patriot and a truly fine human being."

Bill Clinton

Barry Goldwater is likely the last of the Old West.

"If you don't mind smelling like peanut butter for two or three days, peanut butter is darn good shaving cream."
- Barry Goldwater

I read this in an askmen article recently (http://www.askmen.com/fashion/keywords/mens-grooming.html) and just wonder if any of you guys have tried this? /A

You could use it. But why? There are so many great soaps and creams out there designed for shaving, that you could use a different one every day for your whole life and almost never repeat.
There's no need to look in the food section for shaving products.

"Or if any of you know who Barry Goldwater is for that matter?

/A

Man do I feel old now.
