Pay Attention To Detail, "Old Type" Razor From Deluxe Combination Set

Here is Probably the Most Deepest Detailed Razor i own till date. I thought the New President Which is Pictured as well had alot of Detail, but this Razor from The Deluxe Combination Set 1918 Takes the Cake, It has Deep Detail Carved out Groves, Lots of Swirl Designs and Pinpoint Cut outs, Were these made by hand or machine? I imagine in 1918 they didn't have such machines to create such detail? I would say if they were hand carved No Two Razors Are Alike?

Verification of hand carving can be done by Comparing the Details on the Old Type Deluxe To the One MacDaddy Has.

Old Type Deluxe Detailed Razor Weighed 54 Grams.

New President Detailed Razor Weighed in at 84 Grams.

Enjoy the pics :biggrin1:

That set looks awful! Pm me and I will send you my address so you don't ever have to look at it again!

Those are some of the most beautiful razors I have ever laid eyes on. I am crazy about my ABC Empire set, but those are serous head turners!

Absolutely stunning mate, congratulations and ENJOY!

It doesn't need to be said but, they don't make them like that anymore ...

One could get lost looking at such detail not to mention seeing something new every time one picked it up. Mesmerizing that's for sure. Thanks.

I just fell in love! I have to have something like this

When does this set exactly date to? Do you have any knowledge about its history? I ask because this looks uncannily like some of the best trench art I have had the pleasure of seeing.

Thanks for all the Comments Guy's Just wanted to share this Beauty with you in Close up pics, This way you can get a better feel of what it really looks like in person, Amazing that such Beautiful things were made back in those day's. The Plating on these must of been Heavy, as it is all in tact after 95 Years.

My set is a New Improved De Luxe rather than the Old Type, so it's probably not a fair comparison. Gillette's material on these sets did say that they were hand engraved, but it's written in such a way that it could be referring to the decoration or to the monogramming. (See below.) My bet is that the decorative work was done by hand, though, just from the look of it. The NEW DeLuxe President, on the other hand, looks to be engine-turned like the Cavalier, Algonquin, etc. The NEW DeLuxe Aristocrat, though, may have been hand done.

I could compare equivalent sections of the two canisters or the two blade cases in my New Improved set to see if there's any variation between them that you'd expect from hand engraving. Or I could compare my razor against some of the close-up shots of Mark's. I'll have to give it a look this evening.
