What's new

Pastes, sprays, and strops oh my!

I'm trying to decide what to mess with next. My favorite way to finish is AlumOx on a coti. CrOx is harsh and irritating to me and seems to abolish the coti edge characteristics.

I have plenty of extra leather strop space and a linen available. Gimme some ideas for what to waste my money on next! I can always do the Thiers Issard white or diamond sprays, but just wondering what else people might recommend. I haven't given this any thought in a while.

Personally?

Coti > Tony Miller Linen > Tony Miller Leather > Face
Or....
Coti > Kanayama Suede > Kanayama Cordovan Leather > Face

I haven't used my pasted linen since getting my Coticule.

In an effort to get the most out of my edges, I'm going to try .25 CBN spray on a Shapton 30k. If that doesn't pan out I'll put it onto some kind of medium..

Hey Dusty, long time no see. Thanks for the lead there. When you do try the red stuff, can you tell me what you think compared to whatever diamond sprays you have used?

I have never actually used diamond sprays before but have used CBN, so when I use the red paste I will let you know how I like it. That being said, I have shaved with razors that were finished on diamond sprays and never much cared for those edges, between CBN and diamond I much prefer the CBN.

Yes sir we do! Neurotopia did some honing for me back when I started straight shaving again and helped me get back into the game. I guess maybe I should be cursing him instead of praising him!

I like diamond paste on a pasted paddled. .5 on one side, .25 on the other. Gives the edge an extra keeness most hones can't quite manage. I like it.

I'd use some other kind of medium... I think a 100k spray would get lost in a 30k stone.
